Gemsstock to Open a Week Early

Gemsstock will open for this weekend, a week earlier than originally planned. This is a new record for Andermatt, as the resort has never opened this early before.

Gemsstock will open a week early after very good snowfall.

The first cable car, Andermatt - Gurschenalp, will be open, as will the chairlift. Nothing else will be open yet.

Good, early snowfall is not unusual for Andermatt, but this good is rare. At the middle of Gemsstock, Gurschenalp, there is approximately 140cm of snow, and at the top of Gemsstock there is approximately 270cm of snow.
